I just joined the WAMC two weeks ago and went for the Swan Twilight run for the very first time, and I did it with my Vibram KSOs. They were very nice to run with. The run started at 6pm and probably was supposed to run till the sun came down or something, but when we finished the sun was still quite bright. It took me 27 mins 53 secs, which is a personal best for me. Firstly 5 km running with friends and 5km running with a whole bunch of people is a totally different feeling. When the starting gun goes off everyone goes nuts and runs like hell (at least that's what I feel). And I cannot hold the pace for more than 5 minutes. The I started walking a little and running a little, which shows how amateurish I am. I see everyone else holding constant speed, well, at least not to the point of just walking. But I had never learn to do constant speed so that was quite embarrassing when people overtake me, then I start running again at my speed then overtake them and the walk and they overtake me again etc. I felt so embarrassed that I did not even sprint to the end when one of the ladies which I overtook 3 times sprinted to the end. I actually thought that was alright, since I have been so rude to overtake 3 times. But I shall be more competitive next time and really try hard to hold that constant pace. So unprofessional to run and walk.
Also, I shall go to the WAMC meeting, which I should have done in the first place. It was for novice runners and probably taught some of the basics of running properly. I shall give that a shot and probably learn something about running etiquette. Anywho, I loved it, it was really fun and I really want to improve my time to get to about 20 minutes this year and I would be quite happy.
